    Jane's first career was in bichemistry and bowel cancer research at Auckland Medical School (1977-1984).She completed a teaching diploma and a Dip Arts in psychology through Massey University. Jane has an MSc with distinction in psychology after working with Professor Bob Knight on prospective memory loss in ageing. In 2005 Jane gained a position as Assistant Research Fellow at IPRU, Otago Medical School. Her work was funded for 2 years in the area of prevention of child injury in the home - injuries/deaths caused by drowning, suffocation & choking, poisoning, burns and falls. Working with Research Fellow, Jean Simpson their research and intervention strategies for NZ children (under 5years) focused on a parent-based approach to the anticipation and prevention of injury to young children at home.

    Currently, Jane is back living in Twizel, the beautiful MacKenzie, picking up whatever work she can and enjoying the opportunity to do some academic research.
